What I love most about the most recent Jamie Oliver TV series is that he takes you through different food stuffs an ingredient at a time. He shows you a thorough group of recipe suggestions for making that one ingredient or way of cooking it most delicious possible way. It’s the only way to teach about cooking.
Even if you don’t like the rubber lipped man himself, his cookery books are compulsively readable and this is no exception. You can happily flip through it and imagine all the wonderful things you could cook, if you wanted to, or just keep is as a useful reference book. It’s easy to read and always helpful in giving tips and suggestions.
I have some cookery books where I wander if the author has actually cooked them themselves. I start to wander when I follow the recipe diligently yet the finished item is still not quite how it should be. A case of a celebrity attaching their name to something and not necessarily having a hand in it I think. This is never the case with the Jamie Oliver cook books and this isn’t an exception. I haven’t cooked anything from the Jamie at Home book that hasn’t been a roaring success.
