I travel around a lot and have regretted not taking pictures everywhere i have gone. I tried to rectify this last year by acquiring a Canon Eos. Fortunately i received this camera as a Christmas present, so the price tag didn't bother me, he says tongue in cheek!
When i first got this 8 Megapixel Canon camera i was always trying to compare it to an incredible Olympus camera i had years before. To be honest it is difficult for my untrained eye to tell the difference, both Canon and Olympus digital cameras seem to be top of pack when it comes to delivering great picture quality.
The Canon Eos isn't difficult to use, anyone can create perfect digital stills automatically with no knowledge of any of its other features. Learning those features can be fun as you experiment with the cameras capabilities, so it always keeps you occupied in between pictures.
The Canon Eos camera is best used for scenery and outdoor daylight shots and gives professional results for anyone recording a holiday tour with laptop and camera. It is probably not best used for taking shots in a city as the camera is a handful to walk around and you are always aware that you look like a tourist and a potential target to be robbed. You will not get the same quality of images with a pocket camera and an ordinary lens though. This camera should be used to achieve best shots of wildlife and nature. One of its best features is allowing you take 5 pictures in one go, so you can pick the best picture of a fast moving animal. The golden rule of photography is take as many pictures as you can to pick out a few of the best and the Eos camera really gives you that opportunity.
