Calvin Klein Obsession for Men 125ml Aftershave
Obsession For Men by Calvin Klein is a bit of an obsession for me. It is woody, mysterious and exotic. It contains bergamot oil which is the fragrant part of Earl Grey tea, so to me it smells quintessentially British and traditional. Bergamot is also known to have natural anti-depressant properties, so that would explain why smelling it always makes me feel uplifted.
Back in the Eighties when Calvin Klein was trying to think of a name for his new fragrance, he consulted sociologist and trend-spotter Faith Popcorn, whose finger on the cultural pulse has made a lot of people extremely wealthy. She suggested the name Obsession.
She was of course tapping into the sense of the 1980s being all about greed and lust, the obsession with the body beautiful, what we desire as opposed to what we need, but the name suits the scent perfectly, when you catch a whiff of it, it is hard to think about anything else for a good three minutes afterwards.
Obsession For Men has a retro edge that reminds me of the glamour and decadence of the 1980s, but it is much more than a passing fad. It is a classic fragrance that is deeply masculine, and highly sensual and provocative.
