I bought this Dutchess CD quite recently, as I have always loved the Black Eyed Peas, and thought that seeing as Fergie herself was a member, her music would be along the same lines. It is, and it isn't. It is a pleasant mix of all types of music, to suit everyone. Great lyrics and catchy tunes made this a very enjoyable CD.
The first thing I noticed about this album is the cover. It is a bright colour, making it noticeable on the shelf. Not only that, but there is a seductive picture of Fergie, herself on the cover which appeals to both men and women. Men - for obvious reasons, and women - because she is a perfect image of a pretty face, lovely body and great personality, which comes across in her music.
Once over the cover, I noticed the names of the songs. Again, very catchy. Some albums have song titles that seem a bit bland, but the titles of the tracks on this album were individual and unique.
Once I got the CD home, I listened to it and found myself humming along, and not being able to resist tapping my feet. The tracks have great tunes, and her voice is amazing. It is capable of so many different genres of music, from reggae to ballads. I don't think there is a bad song, or a bad choice of song combined with her voice on the album.
From the great releases which include - Fergalicious, London Bridge and Glamorous which are a mix of pop, mixed with a bit of R&B and even a small amount of rapping in there as well. There is also a great reggae type song - Mary Jane Shoes, and also a bit of a punky song - Get Your Hands Up and Wake Up.
The best bit about this album, is that a couple of the tracks include members of the Black Eyed Peas. However, it's done in a way so that it doesn't sound just like another BEP song.
There are a couple of beautiful ballads on the album - Finally and Big Girls Don't Cry, which was also released. Her voice works really well with these ballads, with her huskiness and sexiness with a bit of innocence thrown in as well.
All in all, I think this is an album that suits not only a mixture of people, but also a mixture of moods. Whatever your mood, for whatever mood you want to set, there is a song on the album that matches it perfectly. Upbeat, catchy tunes to beautiful, soulful ballads, this album really does have it all! (The only downside is that it may not be acceptable for kids - Parental Advisory!)
